Happy Tuesday, fellow humans. π
Hereβs your Tuesday morning fun fact: There are only 4 words in the English language that end in βdous.β In case youβre wondering, they are horrendous, tremendous, hazardous, and stupendous.
Wierdly, those are also the words my parents use to describe my early childhood.
Anyhoo, letβs dive into itβ¦

πΈ Text toβ¦websites?
A 2022 survey found that ~27% of small businesses donβt have a website.
This, along with lower web traffic, needlessly βadvancedβ functionality, and increased software costs, are the top challenges SMBs face today with website creation.
To help solve this, Wix, a popular web builder, launched an AI Site Generator tool to create websites automatically.
The tool allows users to describe their intent and generate a website with text and images.
But what sets Wix apart from other AI website builders is their focus on streamlining and simplifying the process of building βback-end business functionality, infrastructure, payments capabilities and more for customersβ websites.β
Overall: Wix's CEO, Avishai Abrahami, emphasized that his tool aimed to promote AI's role in simplifying web building for small businesses, reducing complexity, and generating value for users.

π° Chatbots stay hydrated
Chatbots consume about Β½ a liter of water for every 25 questions you ask them.
ChatGPT alone has 100M users, and if theyβre anything like meβ¦ damn, thatβs a lot of water.
Why is this important: AI models have a significant impact on the environment due to their water usage and carbon emissions.
Professor Dr. YΓΌksel ArdalΔ± of Ondokuz MayΔ±s, University Department of Environmental Engineering, stated that in addition to the water usage, the type of power supply used to run data centers affects the amount of emissions produced.
According to Scientific American, GPT-3, which has 175 billion parameters, βconsumed 1,287-megawatt hours of electricity and generated 552 tons of carbon dioxide, the equivalent of 123 gasoline-powered passenger vehicles driven for one year.β
Mind you; this was just to get the model ready to launch - with no consumer usage.
Wild.
The professor urges less AI use, despite their convenience - but that seems like a pipe dream for now.
Just another thing for climate activists and tech builders to think about now.

π― Rate your AI

If AI chatbots have taught us one thing so far, itβs that they are decent at best, but unreliable and inappropriate at worst.
A survey found that 82% of parents wanted a rating system for new AI products, and 77% were interested in using AI tools to help their children learn but were unsure which ones were reliable.
To help implement this, Common Sense Media, a nonprofit dedicated to digital citizenship and providing media ratings for parents, is adding AI technology products to its ratings and reviews system.
The new system will assess AI products for suitability for children and whether they apply "responsible AI practices."
It will also aim to inform forthcoming legislative and regulatory efforts around online safety for minors.
Soβ¦ hereβs a question for you:
How would you rate Snapchat's My AI bot?
